Seasonal Graph/Chart of the DJIA

Seasonal Graph of the DJIA

Below is a seasonal graph of the DJIA. This data is interesting but only marginally useful in predicting short-term market trends although many seem to use it for that purpose. The Average trend curve was computed using closing DJIA values for years 2000 through 2009, with 2001 excluded. All data were scaled to one on the first trading day of the year. Results for 2009 are shown separately.
